During the period between 1940 and 1972, asbestos was a widely used insulation material in shipyards, construction sites at countless areas across the country. As a result of the use of asbestos-containing products during the twentieth century at hundreds of shipyards, the safety of the locations was severely compromised and civilian workers and servicemen were routinely exposed to potentially lethal levels of asbestos.
